It’s hard when you’re writing a role for yourself to act in not to be selfish. You have to not only think about the technical aspects of writing, which is challenging enough, you have to write the character holistically, in service of the whole story and as a fully-realized human being. In Causality, I am being selfish: I wasn’t getting cast — there are never enough roles for women to go around — so I wrote a character for me! I have a lot of opportunities for interesting moments, both sad and … [ read more » ]
Our music is great. And it’s all original. It helps our story make an impact in a way that we never imagined possible. And we owe it all to Jesse Plack. We’ve talked about our fantastic composer Jesse Plack (or maybe you’ve heard him on Podcast to the Past Classic!). You’ve heard his trippy electronic themes in our promotional shorts. You’re going to hear even more of his instrumental work in Causality soon, but he’s going on tour this month and just released a new album! This guy is crazy … [ read more » ]

-The post below is by Matt Genovese (@mattgenovese on twitter). He’s a marketing consultant, writer, volunteer firefighter, and he’ll tell the rest of the story below, but I do want to mention that he’s one of Causality’s first fans. It’s awesome that he’s been there since almost the very beginning, and I’m stoked that he’s the first person outside of the cast or crew of the show to do a guest post. Hopefully, he’ll do some more! Ralph and I will be chatting about our usual that that and the other science fiction news and pop culture ephemera (and scifi dirty talk). We’ll also be joined by Todd Downing of Seattle webseries The Collectables! Hey Guys! We’re excited to let you know that our podcast is now on Cazador Radio! So, you may have noticed that the release of our promo mini-episode, let alone the actual production of the show, seems to be, uhh, taking a while. *sound of crickets chirping* That’s the problem with having crazy-talented people working on this show — they’re in such demand in their professional lives that getting all their efforts coordinated and scheduled takes some doing. We’re getting there! In the meantime, though, to blow off a little steam, here’s something we threw together open the weekend that we hope you’ll enjoy: … [ read more » ]
There’s going to be general auditions for this at Stone Soup Theatre, but some of you might be interested in knowing that I’m directing a couple of short plays in a festival featuring women playwrights, directors, and backstage tech personnel called XX Fest. I’m keeping it in the “family” by casting Carolynne Wilcox and Joesephine Hoy, but I will also be looking for the following roles: Man: age 25-35 Woman: age 30-50 Man: age 35 and up. Let me know if you’re interested and shot me a headshot and resume … [ read more » ]
Did you ever listen to an interview with a movie or TV star after they win an award? They often gush about the “family” of the project. Flush with the recognition of the award, they praise that group, professing that their cast/crew/production team is the best. No doubt in that moment, they really believe what they’re saying. But I often wonder, when the high wears off, do they still really consider the people that they worked with “family”? I like to think so, but I know that statistically, it … [ read more » ]
