The multi-talented @glynismitchell who co-wrote the script, is co-producing the show, portraying Holly AND doing Art Direction for Causality is getting inked. Today. Perhaps as I write this, I’m not sure. The point is, she is getting a tattoo inspired by Frank Herbert’s “Dune” series. Being a strong woman with somewhat bewitching qualities, she is understandably drawn to the Bene Gesserit. In the universe of Dune, they are highly intelligent, focused, trained women who have the ability to control their minds and bodies in a way that others cannot. This … [ read more » ]
If you follow me on Twitter or know me IRL, you may have picked up that I spend a ton of money monthly on health care. Mental health care, specifically. For the sake of mild activism, I try to be “out” about my disability: I am on the severe end of the Bipolar Spectrum with a ton of comorbid disorders. For those that don’t know, BPS is genetic and can be seen on PET scans, and has high correlation to other debilitating disorders such as epilepsy (don’t have that), migraines (got … [ read more » ]
Here’s the thing, and you need to understand this: All writers are liars. It’s what we do. It’s what you come to us for, in fact — you want us to lie to you, to tell you about things that never happened and people who never existed. You want us to lie to you so well that you believe in it, at least enough to feel happy when good things happen to the imaginary people we make you care about, to feel sad when they struggle and fail. I am … [ read more » ]
So we visited the Karori Sanctuary, a 500-year project to restore the temperate rainforest inside Wellington, where we saw some flightless birds, lizards, and giant bugs, plus very large ferns and deadly mushrooms. A suspension bridge over the valley. I admit: hilly green places make me feel quite at home. Amanita muscaria. Don't eat it. Really. Then we went to the Weta Cave (not to be confused with the cave where weta live). I saw Gollum, Lurtz, that dog from The Frighteners, Jane from Jane and the Dragon, and lots … [ read more » ]
Hey, Time Travelers! Just wanted to let you know that I arrived in Wellington on a beautiful, sunny day, and we spent some time walking around the little nooks and crannies. Before I arrived in NZ I had to go back in time and solve a thing. I’ve never been in a more walkable city. I was wondering why there were a bunch of cosplayers hanging around the waterfront, until I learned that the nerds were in town. And I had forgotten my Causality handbills at the house! Oh, well, … [ read more » ]
A Facebook friend of mine forwarded this to me, and I just HAD to share it with the Causality community. I don’t know about you, but I’d totally buy this cereal, or the 6-pack they mention at the end. (Click the picture to go to the Astronom-O’s page) Speaking of Facebook friends, please “Like” our fan page. remember, It’s Glynis’ Birthday wish! I made my usual weekly post yesterday, but just had to write again about being asked that question. Twice in the last week I’ve been asked by different friends, “When did you become such a Geek?” Typically, people are identified with that term well before my age. I mean, you can’t help but spot a geek right? They look like Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons, despise social or athletic activities, never had a girlfriend (or boyfriend), are out of shape, and have rows of graphic novels and figurines of … [ read more » ]
